Hugo Barriol began making music as a child in Saint-Étienne, before fully embracing it in Sydney, where he played in the subway. Back in Paris, he spent two years performing in the Paris metro and, in 2015, won the first Metro Music Award for Best Subway Singer — the press dubbed him “music’s Cinderella.”
This underground scene led to his first EP, driven by On the Road (20 million streams), and then to his album Yellow, recorded in London with Ian Grimble (Mumford & Sons, Daughter).
After Everywhere / Anywhere, born from a van road trip through Spain, Portugal and Morocco, Hugo is taking a new direction: his new album, entirely in French and his most personal to date, was born out of a rupture with his father and a journey through therapy that taught him how to open up. Ten songs, a new language, a new kind of honesty.
